Dovetailing with the decline in 1,000-yard rushers, there are an increasing number fo 1,000-yard receivers in the NFL now, which offers more opportunity to find useful fantasy contributors. Paul Molitor Brewers Jersey . The best of the best remains Detroits Calvin Johnson, who is in another class, even when compared to the growing field of 1,000-yard wideouts. Last season, there were 24 wide receivers with at least 1,000 receiving yards, and seven of them had double-digit touchdowns. The year before, it was 19 1,000-yard receivers; then 17, 16, 20, 21, 20, 19, 19 and 23 over the past decade. With a few more reaching that threshold, there is opportunity to squeeze out some value later, but it doesnt hurt to get the big guns loaded. Over that period, there are 14 receivers with five 1,000-yard seasons, and three of them (Donald Driver, Chad Johnson and Derrick Mason) are out of the league, so its hard to bank on guys for year-in, year-out production. Nevertheless, Calvin Johnson has gone for more than 1,000 yards in five of the past six seasons and has double-digit touchdowns in four of those five seasons. Thats consistent enough to be the top fantasy option at the position and worthy of a mid-first-round pick in most formats. Beyond Johnson, there is still lots of talent. Denvers Demaryius Thomas has had back-to-back seasons with at least 1,400 receiving yards and double-digit touchdowns. The aforementioned Calvin Johnson is the only other active receiver with two seasons of at least 1,400 receiving yards and double-digit touchdowns. Beyond those two, Dallas Dez Bryant has 2,615 receiving yards with 25 touchdowns the past two years, and Cincinnatis A.J. Green has racked up 2,776 yards with 22 touchdowns. In some configuation, thats a pretty strong top four. Thats not to say that there arent more contenders for that kind of ranking, however. Green Bays Jordy Nelson missed four games in 2012, but in 2011 and 2013, he combined for 2,577 yards and 23 touchdowns. Being Aaron Rodgers preferred target has its benefits. Few receivers have been as consistently productive as Chicagos Brandon Marshall, who has seven straight seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards, scoring 23 touchdowns in the last two combined. The trouble, if you want to call it that, is that Marshall is losing some looks to third-year wideout Alshon Jeffery, who had a breakout year in 2013, accruing 1,421 yards and seven touchdowns. While there is typically a reluctance to pick rookie wide receivers -- since 2000, there have been five first-year receivers with at least 1,000 receiving yards -- Keenan Allen, a third-round pick of San Diego last season was one of them. Naturally, then, expectations are high for Allen going into his second season. Tampa Bays Vincent Jackson has never had a double-digit touchdown season, but hes gone for 1,000 yards or more in five of the past six seasons. If he turned in a dozen touchdown year on top of a 1,200-yard season, that would be some serious value. The Atlanta Falcons offer up a pair of possible boucneback options. Julio Jones was running away from the competition last year, with 580 yards in five games before his season was ended with a foot injury. Across the field, Roddy White limped his way through much of the season with a high ankle sprain, finishing with 711 receiving yards, his lowest since 2006. White is 32, so predicting a bounceback gets a little dicey at that age, but he had 502 receiving yards in his last five games last season, presumably once the ankle had improved. The No. 1 target in Pittsburgh, Antonio Brown is coming off a season in which he gained 1,499 receiving yards and figures to get at least as many looks this year with a less-than-inspiring supporting cast. One of the challenges when evaluating wide receivers is that they are going to be dependent on their quarterback for production. The Giants Victor Cruz has 3,626 receiving yards with 23 yards over the past three seasons, but if Eli Manning isnt on top of his game this season, that will likely have an adverse effect on Cruzs production. A similar issue could hang over the Texans duo of Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopins. Johnson, the veteran, has never had a double-digit receiving touchdown season, but has more than 1,400 receiving yards in four of the past six seasons. Hopkins is going into his second season after a rookie year that had its ups and downs, but still finished with 802 receiving yards. The question for both is whether they can put up big numbers with Ryan Fitzpatrick as their quarterback. Larry Fitzgerald had a bit of a bounceback last season, when the Cardinals brought in Carson Palmer. Fitzgerald was held under 1,000 yards for the second straight season, but had his first double-digit touchdown season since 2009. Michael Floyd emerged, in his second season, as a strong option across from Fitzgerald, accumulating receiving 1,041 yards, so Floyd may be similarly valuable going forward. With DeSean Jackson off to Washington, Philadelphias top remaining wide receivers Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper will have opportunities to put up strong stats. Maclin has yet to record a 1,000-yard season in his career, and missed all of 2013, but if he can stay healthy, he should get there this year. Cooper was a full-time starter last year, for the first time in his career, and had 835 receiving yards with eight touchdowns. 1,000 yards isnt necessarily out of reach for him either. San Franciscos receiving corps ought to be better this year, with Anquan Boldin the reliable veteran, but bolstered with a healthy Michael Crabtree, along with newcomer Stevie Johnson. Crabtree, who only played five games last season, but has played well with Colin Kaepernick under centre, could be primed for a bounceback campaign. There are some value shifts based on team changes, most notably for Eric Decker, leaving the high-octane Broncos for the New York Jets. Deckers value will drop, but he could still provide value if he drops too far; on the other hand, Emmanuel Sanders moves from Pittsburgh to Denver, replacing Decker, and that would seem to make it likely that Sanders will top last years career-best 740 yards and six touchdowns. One of the most popular breakout candidates at wide receiver this season is Minnesotas Cordarrelle Patterson, the second-year receiver who had 469 receiving yards and nine touchdowns (two on returns, three rushing) as a rookie. Can Matt Cassel take advantage of Pattersons deep speed? Baltimores Torrey Smith could take a further step forward, after putting up a career-high 1,128 receiving yards last season. Even with similar yardage, Smith could still add value if he scores more than the four touchdowns he had last year. When it comes to value plays, Seattles Percy Harvin offers high upside -- he had 1,312 yards from scrimmage in 2011 with Minnesota -- but he hasnt been able to stay healthy. At some point, his talent makes him worth a pick. Its tough to get value from rookie wide receivers (see the note associated with Keenan Allen) but this years crop is headed by Buffalos Sammy Watkins, Tampa Bays Mike Evans and, as something of a sleeper, New Orleans Brandin Cooks. Watkins and Evans are expected to start, with questionable quarterbacks, while Cooks has a chance, with his speed, to add a new dimension for an elite quarterback. Carolina may have the leagues worst receiving corps, but those expected to start, Jerricho Cotchery and rookie Kelvin Benjamin, are both intriguing when it comes to deeper leagues -- someone has to catch Cam Newtons passes. In any case, adding depth at the position remains important. Even if you secure blue-chippers for starting spots, there are bye weeks, injuries and flex spots that will require you to look deeper on the list of candidates. Even with the draw, the Sounders (13-7-3) climbed back into a tie for both the Western Conference and overall top spot in MLS. Striker Dario Mandzukic scored the opener in the 22nd minute but was given a red card nine minutes later for a reckless tackle and left Croatia with 10 men for the remainder of the match.COLUMBUS, Ohio - After consecutive shutout losses, the New York Rangers needed a lift. They got it from their sterling goaltender — and with the return of an injured teammate.Marc Staal and Chris Kreider scored and Henrik Lundqvist made 35 saves to lead the New York Rangers to a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.Lundqvist dueled with Columbus goalie Sergei Bobrovsky most of the night, trading great saves.Despite getting only two shots on goal in the third period, the Rangers hung on.We did what we had to do, coach Alain Vigneault said. When we werent where we were supposed to be, our goaltender was.Lundqvist was pleased that his team pulled out of its offensive funk. When you get used to winning, losing is terrible, he said. You could see when we scored that first goal we relaxed a little bit, we started playing better, we had more speed.Derek Stepan, who was a game-time decision to play due to an upper-body injury, assisted on both second-period goals after missing the Rangers last game.We came out in the second period and did a lot of good things — things we had been doing earlier in the season, he said. When we execute the way we did in the second, were really a tough team to play. The Rangers finally found some offence after a scoreless drought of 146:59.Staal converted on a rebound off a shot from the left circle by Stepan at 5:59 of the period. They had not scored since Nash tallied on an empty-netter with 1 minute left in a 3-1 win at San Jose on Jan. 10.Just 4:11 later, they scored again.Stepan triggered the goal with a nifty stretch pass to Kreider, all alone behind the defence, who faked to his forehand before slipping a backhand just past Bobrovskys outstretched left toe at the post. The Blue Jackets got on the board at 3:16 of the third. Bobrovsky, who made 24 stops, made a spectacular save on a redirect, with Ryan Johansen then connecting with Hartnell on a long pass. Hartnell beat Lundqvist high on the glove side, with the goalie picking up the second assist. The Rangers, thanks to some quality saves by Lundqvist, hung on.I wouldnt say we necessarily shut them down, Vigneault said. They had a couple of good looks. I liked the waay we battled tonight. Tyler Thornburg Jersey. We werent crisp the whole night, but we found a way.Scott Hartnell had the goal for the Blue Jackets, who have dropped four in a row while being outscored 15-7 after collecting points in 13 of 15 games. Its just frustrating were on a little bit of a skid right now, Hartnell said.Ryan Johansen extended his personal- and franchise-record points streak to 12 games with an assist (7-7-14). Its the longest such streak in the NHL this season. We did some good things, Columbus coach Todd Richards said.Lundqvist was solid all night. He stymied Johansen on repeated whacks at a loose puck in the crease with just under 6 minutes left.It appeared the Rangers got a big goal late. Bobrovsky deflected a high pass by Mats Zuccarello for Klein with 1:26 left in regulation. The puck glanced off the right leg of Hartnell and bounced into the net. It was ruled a no-goal on the ice and a video review was inconclusive whether Klein had contacted the puck with a high stick.Bobrovsky stood tall as the Rangers swarmed with seven shots on their first power play, and also gloved Dominic Moores shot after Tanner Glass steal in the opening period.Lundqvist, playing can-you-top-this, stopped Cam Atkinson in close after a New York giveaway early in the game, then twice turned away Johansen, first on a wrister and then point-blank off a loose puck, in a span of a few seconds.NOTES: The Rangers played the second game of a three-game road trip; the Blue Jackets start one at Boston on Saturday. ... The NHL has announced that Fall Out Boy (first intermission), O.A.R. (second intermission) and Locksley (player introductions) will provide the musicial entertainment for the All-Star Game in Nationwide Arena on Jan. 25. ... Columbus LW Matt Calvert (illness) was also a game-time decision but played. ... As has been the case ever since he tangled with Bobrovsky last season, former Blue Jackets captain Nash was booed lustily every time he touched the puck. ... DENVER -- The Colorado Mammoth didnt see this one coming, as the Vancouver Stealth raced to a 9-1 lead in the opening quarter, en route to a 19-9 victory Friday in National Lacrosse League action. Jake Peavy Jersey . Brett Bucktooth powered the Stealth (3-6) with six goals and six assists. Rhys Duch had four goals and seven assists, while Cliff Smith had three goals and five assists for Vancouver, which ended a six-game losing streak. Tyler Digby, Chris Wardle, Lewis Ratcliff, Nick Weiss, Kyle Sorensen and Tyler Garrison also scored for the Stealth. Drew Westervelt had four goals for Colorado (4-6), while John Grant Jr. had three goals and five assists. Cameron Holding and Joel Dalgarno also scored for the Mammoth. Tyler Richards stopped 40 of 49 shots for Vancouver. Tye Belanger allowed 13 goals on 33 shots in nearly 49 minutes of playing time for Colorado, while Dillon Ward stopped 8 of 14 shots. San Francisco Giants Jimmy Rollins Jersey . The Raptors second-year forward has been one of the primary beneficiaries of the early-season trade, breaking out and becoming a vital part of his teams success on both ends of the floor. Around the league, teams are starting to take notice and feature Ross more predominately in their pre-game scouting reports but its not just the opposition that hes impressing. Willie McCovey Jersey . Napoli beat high-flying Hellas Verona 3-0 to keep up the pressure on the top two while AC Milan had another disappointing night as four goals from teenage forward Domenico Berardi saw relegation-threatened Sassuolo come back from two goals down to win 4-3.TORONTO -- Dont expect Toronto FC manager Ryan Nelsen to shed any tears for cs current crisis in defence. "Weve lost far more than them over the first eight games of our season and nobody felt sorry for us," Nelsen said prior to Friday nights game in Kansas City. "Just because theyre missing two or three, were missing three in our midfield. So actually were probably hurting more than them, to tell you the truth." Nelsen notes he has been able to use his starting lineup once this season, a reference likely to the D.C. United game back in March. While Toronto (4-4-0) has question-marks in midfield, the defensive cupboard is almost completely bare for Kansas City (5-4-2). Matt Besler is with the U.S. World Cup team while Lawrence Olum has been summoned by the Kenyan national team for a two-legged Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Aurelien Collin is nursing a hamstring injury and Ike Opara is out for the season after ankle surgery. To make matters worse, 17-year-old defender Erik Palmer-Brown was sent off for two yellow cards in his MLS debut last weekend, a 2-1 loss to the Chicago Fire that saw Kansas City give up two penalties. So Palmer-Brown is suspended for Fridays game. Kansas City is also without key attacking midfielder Graham Zusi, whos with the U.S. team. Manager Peter Vermes started the Chicago game with a 3-5-2 formation, with Palmer-Brown between fullbacks Chance Myers and Seth Sinovic at the back, in a bid to work around his lack of defensive options. He had to return to a four-man backline after Palmer-Browns ejection. Palmer-Brown, reportedly a target of Juventus, still made history by becoming the youngest defender to start an MLS game. He turned 17 on April 24. Collin and defensive midfielder Uri Rosell, who could drop back in defence, may be healthy enough to play Friday. But with three games in eight days -- Kansas City hosts the Red Bulls next Tuesday and visits D.C. United on May 31 -- Vermes will likely not want to rush players back. While the MLS champions are still a quality team, they have lost two straight. And a makeshift defence would seem like catnip to Torontos Jermain Defoe, who has five goals in all competitions. Nelsen has questions of his own, facing five games in 15 days. He has lost American midfielder Michael Bradley and Brazilian goalie Julio Cesar to the World Cup. Dave Dravecky Jersey. . Brazilian Jackson (concussion) is not expected to play and fellow midfielder Jonathan Osorio is doubtful (hamstring, hand injury). Nelsens other questions are selection-related. Rookie defender Nick Hagglund had a strong game against New York in place of Doneil Henry while Bradley Orr, pushed up into midfield, also impressed. Henry, 21, already has 40 MLS starts under his belt but has made some costly errors in recent games. Nelsen, perhaps easing the blow, said he was moved to the bench against the Red Bulls because he had played 120 minutes midweek in Vancouver and had a few knocks. Hagglunds fine play against French star Thierry Henry and Englands Bradley Wright-Phillips, the leagues leading scorer, may extended Henrys time on the sidelines. "Nick was brilliant," said Nelsen. Nelsen, while not showing his hand, rejected the suggestion that time on the bench might offer a mixed message to Henry whom he regularly talks up. "I sat on the bench at D.C. United and I was three years older than Doneil. They sat me," said Nelsen. "Its going to happen. Its going to happen when youre 20, its going to happen when hes playing in the Premier league or in the top level." "Theyre not bumps, theyre life experiences that youve got to deal with. Everyone deals with them in any job, in any profession ... its just how you react." "Generally the best ones find a way on the field pretty quickly," he added. The 21-year-old Hagglund has already won kudos on the field for his no fear approach. Off the field, his bubbly personality is also appreciated. "Hes a massive part of this squad, this changing room, for such a young kid," said captain Steven Caldwell. "He takes a lot of stick. He laughs, he smiles. His personality rubs off on everybody, Hes a pleasure to have here." Nelsen could retain Orr in central midfield and has newly acquired Collen Warner available, although he may have to play on the flank if Osorio, as expected, cant go. Warner was the last man off the practice field Wednesday, chatting with Nelsen en route to the locker-room. Rookie Daniel Lovitz, who has impressed since returning from loan in Wilmington, is another midfield option. Torontos career record against Kansas City is 4-10-4, including 1-7-1 on the road. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From ChinaCheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

CHARLOTTE, N. Glenn Hall Blackhawks Jersey Authentic .C. -- The Charlotte Hornets revealed what they will look like on the floor next season -- at least from a fashion perspective. The Hornets unveiled their three new primary uniforms on Thursday featuring white, purple and teal colours. The uniforms bear a strong likeness in colour scheme to the old Hornets regime but have been slightly modernized. Pete Guelli, the Hornets chief marketing officer, said the process was about building a brand identity for the organization. "Each step of the way we tried to mindful about connecting the original Hornets with the modern DNA," Guelli said. "We knew we could never go back to the original logo. We wanted to reflect the heritage and evolve the brand that left the 12 years ago." The home white and away purple uniforms both read "Hornets" on the front, instead of "Charlotte" as in years past. The alternate teal uniform, which will be worn 16-20 times per season at both home and away games, has "Charlotte" written across the chest. The home and away uniforms represent a change from when the Hornets were here last from 1988-2002. Back then, all of the teams uniforms read "Charlotte" across the chest. Hornets senior vice-president of marketing, entertainment and Interactive media Seth Bennett said it was no longer necessary to emphasize the citys name. "In 1988, a lot of people needed to know who Charlotte was, but thats no longer the case," Bennett said. "Our community has grown. People recognize Charlotte as an international city." Bennett also said fans had pushed for Hornets on the front in the research the team conducted. Another noticeable change is the team did away with the popular teal pinstripes down the front of their home uniform and pleats, instead going with a cleaner, block-letter design with thicker stripes down the left side of each uniform. The Hornets focused on simplicity. "We didnt want to be trendy, we didnt want to be loud. I think this connects the two eras," Bennett said. Hornets owner Michael Jordan had input on the design of the uniform. "He wanted something high-performance. Something our players would be proud to wear," Guelli said. Although the uniforms are Adidas as per NBA policy, it was Nikes Jordan Brand that designed and worked on them for more than a year. The team announced fans can start pre-ordering replica jerseys in August, but the uniforms wont be available in the team store until late September. Brandon Mashinter Blackhawks Jersey . Its the injuries. With a month left in the regular season, the Giants (3-9) have placed 19 players from their active roster on injured reserve and another one from their practice squad on the list.Five players, including offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz and defensive ends Mathias Kiwanuka and Robert Ayers, were placed on injured reserve Tuesday, the single largest number of players that a Coughlin-coached team has put on the list in one day during his career.Even coaches are getting hurt. Special teams co-ordinator Tom Quinn injured a calf on Sunday in a loss to Jacksonville when he turned to let players know there was a punt team alert and pulled a muscle. He wore a boot at practice Wednesday as the Giants, the losers of seven straight, started preparations for Sundays game against the Titans in Tennessee. The 68-year-old Coughlin is at a loss to explain the injuries. The team worked on reducing soft-tissue injuries this season, but most of the players who have gone on injured reserve have had injuries that have resulted surgery or will require surgery.I feel badly for any player who has his heart and soul in what hes doing and is denied that because of an injury, Coughlin said. I feel badly for them and, then again, we speak to the opportunity that comes to the next in line. And weve had a lot of next in lines, Ill say that. The biggest changes this week will be on the offensive and defensive lines. With Schwartz out for the season after playing in only two games and Justin Pugh returning from a quad injury, the offensive line will have the same look as it had for the first 10 games. Pugh will replace Schwartz at right tackle and the rest of the line will be Will Beatty at left tackle, Weston Richburg at left guard, J.D. Walton at Center and John Jerry at right guard.Pugh, who missed the last two games, said the goal is to win a game, finish strong and compete. Those who dont may not be back next season. This is the time you have to go out there and make sure you are playing hard, but you dont want to think aabout it that way either, Pugh said. Brandon Mashinter Blackhawks Jersey Authentic. That is such a negative thought. You go out there and play hard and have fun with your teammates. For defensive end Damontre Moore, this will be the chance that many have wanted to see. The athletic second-year player probably will move into the starting lineup with Kiwanuka and Ayers sidelined. He already has shown he can rush the passer. He has to show he can also stop the run. This is a great opportunity for him, defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins said. You dont want the opportunity with that type of situation happening. But its here and presenting itself and he has to take full advantage of it, and I think he will.Safety Antrel Rolle said this has been a weird year in terms of the number of injuries. However, he refused to use injuries as an excuse for the current record and missing the playoffs a third straight year.Obviously, this is a disappointing season for everyone, Rolle said. You have to go out there and keep fighting, that is all you have at this point. The Giants have been in position to win their last three games, but failed to make plays in the fourth quarter.Quarterback Eli Manning said the Giants have not stopped working hard despite their weekly failures. They have not won a game since Oct. 5 .We know weve got to play better and guys want to do that. There is no quit in this group, he said. Were going to work out tails off to get that win.NOTES: OT James Brewer (concussion), LB Mark Herzlich (concussion) and RB Rashad Jennings (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. DT Cullen Jenkins (calf), LB Jameel McClain (knee), CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back-shoulder), LB Jacquian Williams (concussion-shoulder) practiced on a limited basis. ...Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger played with fellow rookie Odell Beckham Jr. at LSU. When asked about Beckhams one-handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago, Mettenberger didnt hesitate. He has had better in practices at LSU, he said, later adding: Trust me, if you can get your hands on some of the practice film at LSU you could see just how freaky of catches that he has made in the past.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL Cheap NFL JerseysCheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

CINCINNATI - Jeremy Hill took the handoff, saw the hole and hit it. Alexander Burmistrov Jets Jersey Authentic . Just like that, he was off for a touchdown that would finally decide a sloppy, back-and-forth game.Hill ran 60 yards to the end zone in the fourth quarter Sunday, part of a 154-yard effort that steadied the Cincinnati Bengals to a 33-23 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars and kept them alone atop the AFC North. The rookie from LSU made it look easy. Sounded that way, too.It was a great job by the offensive line, said Hill, who scored twice. I just had to make one guy miss. The Bengals (5-2-1) did enough ugly things to allow the Jaguars (1-8) to stay in the game until the fourth quarter. Even after Hills long touchdown run, the Jaguars had one final chance that ended when rookie Blake Bortles — the NFLs interception leader — threw one in the end zone with 3:55 left.Add another one to the Jaguars collection of games in which they played well enough to stay close but couldnt pull it out at the end.Youve got to figure out ways to win, receiver Cecil Shorts said. Thats definitely the next thing to get over that hump. As an offence, defence special teams, every category we couldve done better and we still had a chance at the end.The Jaguars headed straight from Cincinnati to London, where theyll play Dallas. The Bengals started getting ready for a big intrastate game — they host Cleveland on Thursday night with first place at stake. There was never any panic, Hill said. We have faith in our guys. It was just a back-and-forth game. A huge win for us. We needed to stay on top of our division. Some things learned at Paul Brown Stadium:THE REAL DEAL: With Giovani Bernard inactive because of hip and shoulder injuries, Hill made his first start and produced the biggest day by a Bengals running back since Cedric Benson ran for 189 yards against the Bears five years ago. Cincinnati took him in the second round because it wanted a big running back who also is a breakaway threat. When they needed a big play Sunday, Hill provided it.I think thats what they envisioned for me, Hill said.GREEN EASES IN: Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Green returned after missing three games with an injured big right toe and had three catches for 44 yards and a touchdown in limited playing time. He had another touchdown catch nullified because he lined up beyond the line of scrimmage. He expects to play on Thursday against Cleveland. The Bengals were happy with how they eased him back into the lineup.Obviously, theres a little transition, having not played in a few weeks, said Andy Dalton, who was 19 of 31 for 233 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. It was a good start.BORTLES AND INTs: The Bengals dropped at least five potential interceptions, but finally came up with the one that clinched it. Bortles threw the ball directly to safety George Iloka in the end zone, his NFL-leading 13th interception. Although he had some good moments in the second half and finished 22 of 33 for 247 yards with two touchdowns to Allen Hurns, it was that one interception that finished it off.I tried to throw it out of the end zone, Bortles said. It wasnt what I wanted. It didnt come out of my hand great.SLOPPY JAGUAR KICKING: Bryan Anger had one punt deflected and another blocked out of the end zone by Taylor Mays for a safety in the first half. After the Jaguars cut it to 26-23 on Denard Robinsons touchdown run, Josh Scobees kickoff went out of bounds, giving Cincinnati the ball at its 40. Hill ran for a touchdown on the next play. Our special teams unit did not perform very well, coach Gus Bradley said.INJURIES: Jaguars guard Brandon Linder (shoulder), safety Josh Evans (shoulder) and linebacker Jeremiah George (sprained ankle) left the game and didnt return. Bengals right tackle Andre Smith sprained his left ankle in the first half, returned before halftime but sat out the second half. Cornerback Leon Hall was being evaluated for a concussion in the second half. Hill missed a series in the first half after twisting his left knee.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Drew Stafford Jets Jersey Authentic . -- David Ortiz saved his only hit for a key moment for the Boston Red Sox. Dustin Byfuglien Jets Jersey Authentic . There is no chance this car sits in your driveway for more than 8 hours at a time, its just too pretty. However, in this case, it all depends on what model you have. If you have the drop top, any coastline will do. What a perfect car to let everyone see your sick flow that you have been growing all winter. If you have the coupe, driving in any city downtown at night is the way to go. The coupe is a very angry, yet sophisticated looking car. Which will almost directly reflect the person driving it. Sophisticated because he or she lives downtown, and angry because the roads are so bad.SOUNDTRACK FOR THE RIDEAgain, this all depends on whether you have the coupe or the vert. If you dont have a roof might I suggest some British bands like the Beatles or The Rolling Stones, basically any artist that is British because I feel like it will make the car happy, it will make you happy too. Connor Hellebuyck Jets Jersey. If you drive the hard top, theres only one track that comes to mind, the James Bond theme music! Jaguars have been featured in many Bond movies, but oddly enough, Bond himself never drove one, but I feel like he would want to drive this. FUN FACTS The entire body is made of aluminum; the whole side of the car is actually one cold-molded piece of metal. Jaguar uses this technique to achieve super strong, yet lightweight body parts. The coupe also comes with the option of an aluminum roof or a panoramic glass roof panel; torsional rigidity is identical regardless of which roof is fitted. Like music? Like listening to it loudly? Well then this car is for you, as one of the options is a 770-watt Meridian audio system. Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork. Adrien Silva Portugal Jersey .com) - LaMarcus Aldridge had a monster outing with 30 points and 21 rebounds and the Portland Trail Blazers outscored the Golden State Warriors by 15 in the final quarter en route to a 113-101 win at Oracle Arena. Wesley Matthews scored 23 points, while Damian Lillard netted 20 with nine assists for Portland, which won its 10th consecutive game. A raucous shoving match broke out with just under four minutes left in the third quarter that saw ejections of Matthews and Mo Williams for Portland and also Gerald Green for Golden State. After Stephen Curry made two technical free throws to increase the Golden State lead, 81-71, Portland outscored the Warriors 42-20 in the final 15 plus minutes of the game. Klay Thompson scored 30 points on 10-of-13 shooting, while Curry returned to the lineup after missing the past two games and scored 22 points with 11 assists in the loss. Miguel Monteiro Portugal Jersey . The bout served as the headlining matchup of Saturdays "UFC Fight Night: Brown vs. Silva" event, which took place at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. It was Silva who looked well on his way to victory in the early going, delivering a pair of crushing kicks to the body that sent Brown crashing to the floor, doubled over in pain. Ricardo Carvalho Jersey . -- With Tony Allen back, the Memphis Grizzlies were able to turn up their defence pressure and hold off the Los Angeles Clippers down the stretch.TORONTO - Forgive Max Pentecost if his attentions divided this weekend. The Blue Jays second pick in the first round (11th overall) is competing in this weekends NCAA super regional for his school, Kennesaw State, against the Louisville Cardinals. All the while, he could be days or weeks away from signing a multi-million dollar contract to turn professional and enter Torontos organization. Pentecosts Owls were down a game in a best-of-three heading into action on Saturday night. Hes got business to take care of first but with a draft slot value at just under $2.9-million, the potential is there to strike it rich. Still, when you hear him speak in his southern drawl, its a reminder that the 21-year-old, like everyone his age, is in many ways still a kid. "I cant wait to get out there and go play," said Pentecost. "Theres going to be one day where Im going to have to clean out my locker and putter around home just because my parents had to move me out of my apartment while we were coming to the super regionals." Selected in the seventh round of the 2011 draft by the Texas Rangers, Pentecost chose not to sign when the Rangers included a 90-day clause in the contract offer, a shield against a recurring injury he suffered in high school. In Pentecosts sophomore year at Winder-Barrow High School near Atlanta, he suffered a stress fracture of his olecranon, which is the bony point of the elbow. He was prescribed rest and rehabilitation. It didnt work and the injury recurred during his junior year. Another season of rest and rehab didnt work and Pentecost suffered the injury a third time in his senior year. He had surgery, two screws were implanted, and there hasnt been an issue since. "I looked at it as I can go to college, work on a degree and if anything I can show them I can play three or four years without the injury recurring," said Pentecost. "I can play healthy and thankfully I was blessed enough to have a good career and improve my stock." His faith in himself has been rewarded. Pentecost has improved as a hitter in each of his thhree years at Kennesaw State, working a slash line of . Raphael Guerreiro Jersey. 23/.483/.631 this season. "I feel that Im more of a hit for average, Im more of a gap to gap, line drive kind of guy," said Pentecost. "I have power but Im not known as a power hitter. You know, it just kind of happens. I feel like I have pretty decent speed for baserunning, for stealing bags. I usually have a pretty good approach, hit offspeed well."Growing up in Georgia, Pentecost admitted he doesnt know much about the city of Toronto. He joked about his time in the Cape Cod League, the collegiate summer circuit in Massachusetts, where he picked up French-language radio stations beaming out of Quebec. It was his time in "The Cape," as its known, when he hit .346/.424/.538 with seven home runs for the Bourne Braves, that Pentecost feels he made his name. "I think thats the only reason I am where I am today," said Pentecost. "Going up there, nobody really knew who I was or had never even heard of Kennesaw State. So going up there I felt like I was really going to have to prove myself and prove my game just to prove who I am. I made a lot of changes to my game, really played hard, enjoyed it. The overall experience was, I mean, it was just a blast." Pentecost cites Jason Kendall and, more recently, Buster Posey as players hes looked up to. He considers himself a versatile athlete; if the catching thing doesnt work out, he could play a corner infield position or in the outfield. First things first, Pentecosts got a game to win on Saturday night. Hell worry about becoming a millionaire later, although getting the draft out of the way will help him relax. "Its a huge weight off my shoulders," he said. SANTOS UPDATE Sergio Santos will throw a bullpen session in Toronto on Sunday. If all goes well, hell report to Single-A Dunedin on Monday. The plan, Santos says, is to throw an inning each on Tuesday and Thursday. Hes hopeful of being activated off the disabled list late next week and of meeting the team in Baltimore. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

A Southampton shirt had to be scrambled from the dressing room before the forgetful Dusan Tadic could enter the Old Trafford pitch. Darwin Barney Jersey .Within minutes it was being ripped off again as the second-half substitute celebrated scoring the goal that gave Southampton its first win at Manchester United in 27 years on Sunday. When I wanted to come on, the shirt and shin pads were not there (in the dugout), but I dont know what happened, Tadic said after clinching the 1-0 victory. This isnt important. Its important we won.It ended Uniteds 10-game unbeaten run in the Premier League, and Ronald Koemans side dislodged the hosts — managed by fellow Dutchman Louis van Gaal — from third place. They came for a draw I believe and they go away with a victory — and that is disappointing, Van Gaal said. We didnt create so many chances in spite of dominating the game. And Arsenal is only a point behind fourth-place United after Alexis Sanchez scored two and created one in a 3-0 victory over Stoke in the days other game. The standings are led by Chelsea on 49 points with Manchester City two points behind. Southampton is eight points adrift of City on 39, but in an elevated position that was unthinkable when the south-coast team was among the teams being tipped for relegation in August. For now the team that lost so many of its stars in the off-season, the prospect of Champions League qualification becomes a slightly more realistic proposition each week. And this was a victory against a United side with most of its key players back from injury. So much so that Radamel Falcao was left out of the matchday squad.Tadics goal came in the 69th, around five minutes after eventually coming off the bench. The Serbia midfielder first set up Graziano Pelle for a shot that hit the post and was then alert enough to send the rebound into the net with the games only shot on target.Tadic was booked for his celebration, taking off his shirt and flexing his muscles in front of the cameras. He scored the winner, its fantastic, Koeman said. But the rest I dont like.Southampton has recovered from a run of four successive losses late in 2014, with back-to-back league wins in the New Year — starting against Arsenal. The Gunners hit back, though, against Stoke on Sunday.Sanchezs cross was headed in by Laurent Koscielny inside six minutes, and the Chile forward was on target in the 33rd after completing a one-two with Tomas Rosicky.A free kick from Sanchez four minutes into the second half went through the wall and the ball was pushed onto the post by goalkeeper Asmir Begovic before going into the net.It took his tally to 18 goals since joining in July from Barcelona for around $60 million. The better the team plays, the more he is involved in the game, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. We had a very offensive team today and Sanchez is confident. We can be direct with him, you can run at people a bit more, so there is a good combination offensively. Russell Martin Blue Jays Jersey . Hes had three top-10 results this season and feels ready to put it all together and finally hoist a trophy at the top level. Kevin Pillar Jersey . With the Nets winning streak in jeopardy, Williams scored 23 points, 11 in the final six minutes, to lead Brooklyn to a 104-99 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night.CHICAGO -- When it comes to Game 7, Los Angeles truly is the king of the road. Alec Martinez scored at 5:47 of overtime, and the Kings beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 on Sunday night to advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the second time in three years. Los Angeles improved to 7-0 in elimination games with its third Game 7 win on the road this post-season. It will host the New York Rangers in Game 1 on Wednesday night. "Weve battled back so many times this year and so many times in these playoffs, we said, Why not again today?" said Justin Williams, who had a goal and an assist. "It was a total team effort, every single guy here giving everything theyve got." Martinezs shot went off Blackhawks defenceman Nick Leddy and fluttered over goalie Corey Crawford, stunning the sellout crowd at the United Center and leading to a wild on-ice celebration for Los Angeles. Leddy and Crawford were hunched over as the Kings gathered in a big huddle along the boards. "I didnt really see it go in," Martinez said. "I know it went off a couple bodies. I just tried to get it through and fortunately it went in." Patrick Sharp scored twice for the Blackhawks, who blew a 2-0 lead. Brandon Saad had a goal and an assist, and Patrick Kane had two more assists. Chicagos loss means Detroit remains the last NHL team to win consecutive titles in 1997 and 1998. "Ive lost some tough games but nothing like tonight," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. The Kings became the first team to play 21 games through the first three rounds of the playoffs and make it to the NHL finals. The 2002 Avalanche and 1993 Maple Leafs also played the maximum amount of games through three series, but they lost in Game 7 of the conference championships. Los Angeles is the only team to play all three of those Game 7s on the road. "You need everybody when you get to Game 7. Youre not into the individual part of it," Kings coach Darryl Sutter said. "Theres always guys that score big goals, make big plays. But you need everybody in your lineup." Tyler Toffoli had a goal and an assist for the Kings, who once held a 3-1 lead in the series, only to have the Blackhawks come back to force Game 7. Jeff Carter scored his ninth playoff goal in the first, and Marian Gaborik had the tying goal midway through the third period. The Kings also got 37 saves from Jonathan Quick in another resilient performance for Sutters team. Los Angeles trailed San Jose 3-0 in its first-round series and was down 3-2 to top-seeded Anaheim in the second round before rallying each time. "Its just a great group to be part of," Quick saidd. Kevin Pillar Blue Jays Jersey. "I feel very fortunate to be with the guys. Obviously our journeys not done yet and weve got a lot of work here coming up. New Yorks an awesome team. They beat great teams, so theyre battle-tested as well so weve got a lot to get ready for." Gaborik, Williams and Mike Richards each improved to 7-0 in Game 7s. Sutter moved to 7-3 in such games, breaking a tie with Blackhawks adviser Scotty Bowman and Pat Burns for the NHL record for most coaching wins in Game 7s. Sharp sent a big power-play drive past Quick to give the Blackhawks a 4-3 lead at 18:25 of the second. But Gaborik responded with his NHL-best 12th playoff goal at 7:17 of the third, setting the stage for a frantic finish to regulation. Quick turned away prime opportunities for Sharp and Bryan Bickell before he made a terrific save on Andrew Shaw in the final seconds. Dustin Brown had a great rush to the net for Los Angeles that he nearly completed for a breathtaking score. Jonathan Toews also scored for the Blackhawks, and Crawford finished with 27 saves. "This was a tough way to go down. This ones going to sting for a while," Toews said. The finale of the epic series between the last two Stanley Cup winners attracted a frenzied crowd of 22,315 that included Hall of Fame basketball player Charles Barkley and Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall. And they were treated to another heart-stopping classic full of big shots and great saves by each side. Just like in Game 5, a 5-4 double-overtime victory for Chicago, the Blackhawks got off to a fast start, only to have the Kings come storming back. Kane picked up an assist on each of the first two goals, finding Saad with a slick pass from behind the net, and then getting to the right place at the right time for a lucky power-play carom that went right to Toews for an easy tap-in at 8:36 of the first. The comeback Kings, who seem to play their best the closer they get to the brink of elimination, then went to work. Carter batted a rebound out of the air and past Crawford at 16:31, and Williams scored his seventh of the playoff 51 seconds later, tying it at 2. It was Williams seventh career goal in a Game 7, tying Glenn Anderson for the NHL record. Williams added an assist on Martinezs winning score, breaking Doug Gilmours record for most points in such games with 14. "They find a way, L.A., theyre never out of a hockey game, theyre never out of a series," Quenneville said. "Theyre dangerous." NOTES: It was the seventh Game 7 of this years NHL playoffs, matching the single-post-season record set in 1994 and equaled in 2011. ... Kane had nine points in the last three games of the series. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

Melbourne, Australia (SportsNetwork. Shawn Matthias Jets Jersey .com) - Four-time champion Novak Djokovic, reigning titlist Stan Wawrinka and Japanese star Kei Nishikori highlighted Mondays fourth-round winners at the Australian Open. The world No. 1 Djokovic got past Luxembourg left-hander Gilles Muller 6-4, 7-5, 7-5 in Mondays nightcap at Laver Arena to reach his 23rd consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal. The seven-time Grand Slam champion and reigning Wimbledon titlist is seeking his fourth Aussie championship in five years, having captured three straight of his four Melbourne crowns from 2011-13. Up next for the great Djokovic, who has yet to drop a set through four matches here, will be eighth-seeded big-serving Canadian Milos Raonic, who is 0-4 lifetime against the Serb. Meanwhile, the fourth-seeded Swiss slugger Wawrinka pulled out a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (10-8) victory over Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. Garcia-Lopez won the first five points of the fourth-set tiebreak and had five chances to force a fifth set at Melbourne Park, but Wawrinka saved all five before moving on. Garcia-Lopez stunned Wawrinka in the first round at last years French Open. Wawrinkas quarterfinal opponent on Wednesday will be the fifth-seeded U.S. Open runner-up Nishikori, who handled ninth-seeded former French Open finalist David Ferrer of Spain 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 on Day 8 of the fortnight. Looking ahead to his clash with Wawrinka, Nishikori said, Its going to be a really tough match because I have seen him play on TV a couple of matches. Even today he was playing really good. He can hit balls forehand, backhand -- great backhand actually. He can hit from anywhere at the back. Its going to be a tough match. But obviously Im in the quarterfinals, so no easy matches coming up. Hopefully I can play another good match. For sure it gives me confidence that I beat him in the U.S. Open. Its not like I cant beat him. Its going to be a fun match for sure. Nishikori made history as he became the first Asian man to contest a Grand Slam final last year when he defeated three Top-10 players, including Wawrinka in five sets in the quarters, to reach the U.S. Open final. The aforementioned Raonic had to outlast 12th-seeded Spanish lefty Feliciano Lopez, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-7 (7-9), 6-3, to reach the round of eight. Lopez saved seven match points before succumbing to the big Canadian. Raonic became the first Canadian man in the Open Era to reach the Aussie Open quarters and is also the second Canadian man in history to reach three major quarterfinals, following in the footsteps of Robert Powell at Wimbledon in 1908, 10 and 12. Its great to be doing what Im doing and that it is making a difference, said Raonic. It is, I guess, part of some history, if you look really deep. But at the end of the day, at the same time, Im always pushing myself for what I want to achieve. Im always sort of looking in the mirror and saying, Thats who I have to compare myself to: to myself. The quarterfinals will commence Tuesday, as third-seeded former world No. 1 Rafael Nadal will take on seventh-seeded Tomas Berdych and sixth-seeded Andy Murray will battle heavy Aussie crowd favorite Nick Kyrgios. Nadal beat Berdych in the 2010 Wimbledon final and is 18-3 lifetime against the big Czech. The reigning French Open king Nadal is a 14-time Grand Slam champ, including an Aussie title in 2009. Hes also a two-time runner-up in Melbourne, including last year when he was stunned by Wawrinka in the final. Murray is a two-time major titlist whos lost in three Aussie Open finals. Keith Tkachuk Jets Jersey Authentic . A-Rod is also disqualified from any post-season play. So at the tender age of 38, he will miss all of next season. As a result of missing the coming season, hes also out $25 million (which coincidentally is my hourly rate). Brandon Tanev Jets Jersey Authentic . Rinehart joins safety Darrell Stuckey and linebacker Donald Butler as potential unrestricted free agents who are remaining with the team. LUBBOCK, Texas -- Marcus Smart hustled back on defence to prevent a dunk and went careening into the crowd behind the basket. He was helped to his feet with only seconds remaining and No. 19 Oklahoma State on its way to a fourth straight defeat. Thats when all the trouble started. Suddenly incensed, Smart got in the face of a Texas Tech fan who appeared to say something to the star guard. Smart shoved him with two hands. The man stumbled backward a bit, but didnt fall. Teammates quickly pulled Smart away from the fracas, and he pointed back in the direction of the fan. Smart was called for a technical foul but was not ejected. He remained on the bench until the final buzzer. As fans stormed the court to celebrate Texas Techs 65-61 win Saturday night, Smart was escorted off the floor by a man wearing Oklahoma State colours -- with a uniformed police officer trailing right behind. A unanimous selection to the preseason All-America team, Smart could now face discipline from the Big 12. Texas Tech spokesman Trenten Hilburn said John Underwood, the conferences associate commissioner for basketball, said the league would review the situation. "I didnt see it yet. I want to make sure I see it and see what happened," Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford said after the game. "Im still trying to figure it out." No Cowboys players were made available to reporters after the game. Smart tried to block Jaye Crocketts dunk attempt from behind with 6.2 seconds to go and tumbled into the front row of the crowd. He was helped up by one man but then went after another, Jeff Orr, who travels thousands of miles each year to attend Texas Tech basketball games, according to athletic department spokesman Blayne Beal. Smart pushed Orr, and fans nearby looked stunned -- one wide-eyed woman next to Orr pointed at Smart as he was pulled away. Texas Tech coach Tubby Smith said he turned away from the play and didnt see the altercation. "You really have to find the film to see what happened," he said. "I assume the officials saw what happened. Thats why he got a technical out of it. The frustration when youre losing sometimes on a losing streak, Ive been there before, it can be tough. Im sure he regrets doing that, whatever he did, so things like that happen in the heat of the battle." Crockett scored 21 points and tied his season high with 12 rebounds to lead Texas Tech. Drew Stafford Jets Jersey. Smart had 22 points and Phil Forte added 15 for the Cowboys (16-7, 4-6 Big 12). Considered one of the best all-around players in the country, Smart has showed frustration more than once during an inconsistent season. The sophomore guard got off to a fantastic start, leading to speculation that he could be the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft this year. He has struggled in some recent games, though, including a four-point effort against West Virginia when he kicked a chair on the bench. That led to him apologizing to his teammates afterward. This one was tied at 61 when Crockett hit the go-ahead shot with 41 seconds remaining. Oklahoma States LeBryan Nash lost the ball in the lane, and Crockett raced toward the basket at the other end. Smart knocked the ball away and was called for a foul, then pushed Orr and drew the technical. Dusty Hannahs and Crockett each made one of two free throws for the final margin. The Red Raiders (12-11, 4-6) earned their second win over a Top 25 team in the past month. They beat then-No. 12 Baylor in January. None of Texas Techs players had ever played in front of a sellout crowd at home before. The last two at United Spirit Arena came in January 2007, including New Years Day when former Red Raiders coach Bob Knight got his 880th win to become the winningest coach in Division I. This victory gave the Red Raiders as many Big 12 wins this season as they had the past two years combined. The score was tied 13 times and the lead changed 12 times as each team put together runs throughout the game. Oklahoma State went on a 17-7 spurt to open the second half, including two 3-pointers by Forte and six points from Smart, to go up 44-36. But the Red Raiders didnt buckle. They used a 9-2 run to pull to 46-45 with 11:14 remaining. Texas Tech went ahead 51-48 on a 3 by Crockett right before Kamari Murphy picked up his fourth foul with 7:47 left. The Cowboys answered, culminating with a 3-pointer from Smart to go up 57-54 with 4:31 remaining. Crockett quickly tied it at 57 with a 3. Oklahoma State struggled early, making one field goal in 11 tries. But the Cowboys used a 10-0 run to go up 14-10. The Red Raiders answered with a 9-2 run and later an 8-2 spurt in the final 1:29 of the half to lead 29-27. Oklahoma States point total for the half was a season low. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

UNIONDALE, N. Jamal Adams Jersey .Y. – Randy Carlyle could handle and might even expect some rustiness for 20 minutes or so after an 18-day Olympic break, but not for the entirety of what proved a dud for the Maple Leafs on Thursday in Long Island. "We gave them three goals," said Carlyle, still steaming after a 5-4 overtime loss to the Islanders. "You cant win in the NHL giving three goals. Gifts. Total gifts." This was not the way Carlyle imagined his team starting the final lap of a long race to the playoffs – a blistering stretch featuring 21 more games in a hectic 44 days – but thats what he got, a sloppy, uninspired performance opposite a team that had lost seven of its previous eight games and was without its best player, John Tavares. Lacking the zip of their pre-Olympic pace – which included wins in 11 of 14 games – the Leafs managed to give away two shorthanded goals in a span of 48 seconds on the same two-minute power play before dropping a pair of third period leads. They lost the undeserved extra point in overtime when James van Riemsdyk could not corral a bouncing puck in the slot, essentially handing it to incoming Islander defender Lubomir Visnovsky, who snuck one through Jonathan Bernier. "I think mentally we looked like we were going to out-skill the hockey club we played against and they had a different attitude. They tried to grind it with us," said Carlyle afterward. "We tried to out-skill a hockey club tonight." Rust was to be expected after the two-plus week Olympic break, but not to the degree that it lingered on this night against a vastly inferior opponent. Two times in the third period did the Leafs vault in front – on goals from Dion Phaneuf and Joffrey Lupul – only to be jilted twice for that lead by Anders Lee, who scored twice in his first NHL game. Lee tapped in his first on a New York power-play, evading Phaneuf and Bernier on the fourth and final game-tying goal late in regulation. "You can expect it for a period," Carlyle said of rust, "but I think when you get down to the third period and youre up in a hockey game youd expect to be able to grind it out, tighten it up and finish the team off. "We were lucky to get a point." Perhaps the effort will offer an early warning to a club itching for a second consecutive spring of playoff hockey. While still comfortable as the first wild card in the East with 71 points that comfort has the potential – however unlikely at this point – to disappear if the Leafs were to catch a fever of bad hockey down the stretch. And with rivals in Montreal and Tampa Bay still there to be caught and Detroit just a smidge behind, heavy incentive remains to lay the foot on the pedal with just over a month left to play. "We know that we left a point here," said Phaneuf. "Thats something we have to recognize and learn from." Five Points 1. Stretch Drive Mentality It was a race to the 2008-09 postseason and Tim Gleason and the Carolina Hurricanes were in a desperate hunt to claim one of the final spots in the East. Winning 13 of their final 18 games they snuck in, landed the sixth seed and proceeded to march all the way to the conference finals.   "Thinking back I think thats what it was," Gleason told the Leaf Report. "You play as hard as you can because you needed those two points every night." Though his current team sits firm in a playoff position at the moment, Gleason hopes they latch onto his former clubs sense of nightly desperation. Thursday was in no way, shape or form a good start. "Its like a new season, a new beginning and you know youve got to come and play and get the wins when you can," said the 31-year-old. "...youve got to push when everyone else is pushing and you have to push harder than everybody else." The Olympic break could not have come at more inopportune time for the Leafs, who entered the stoppage on a scorching run that saw them emerge with points in 12 of 14 games (11-2-1). Gleason too was settling into a groove in Toronto after eight seasons in Carolina. "Its interesting because everybody is anxious for the break because its good to have a break, but you think in the back of your mind you dont want it to end because it was going in the right direction," he said. "Now I think its just more of a mental thing, knowing where we left off and what we have to do to keep the pace and pick up points when we can." 2. Lacking Defence In winning 11 of those 14 games before the break, the Leafs scored and scored quite a bit – averaging 3.64 goals per game, a number that would easily lead the league if somehow sustained. And yet in that same stretch, Toronto also gave up nearly three goals per game itself and still ranks as one of the NHLs worst defensive clubs (all of this with terrific goaltending from Bernier). Team defence remains a sore spot for the Leafs and a worrying concern ahead of the playoffs when the hockey tends to tighten with goals ever the harder to come by. "Weve talked so much about defence and we havent really applied ourselves as a team in that area," said Carlyle on Thursday morning, "and thats one of the things that weve stated from the beginning of the season that we wanted to be stingier on the defensive side of it." No team allows more shots nightly than do the Leafs and only five teams have yielded more goals, none of them currently in a playoff position. The Islanders managed five on this night, playing without their top centre, Tavares, and their second-best centre, Frans Nielsen. "Weve talked about it so many times about our goaltenders having to be taxed in too many situations," Carlyle said. "Wed like to be able to say that its a new season for us, were starting over. The defensive aspect of it has to be part of it. But it takes goals to score in the league too. We just dont want to give up too many of the quality scoring chances..." 3. Bernier Workload Only one goaltender in the NHL has faced more shots this season than Bernier and thats Mike Smith of the Phoenix Coyotes. Of course, Smith has also started 10 more games than the 25-year-old, who made his 39th start of the season at Nassau Coliseum on Thursday. Bernier faced 35 shots and allowed five goals, ending a run of 12 consecutive starts yielding three or fewer. "I thought my rebound control wasnt great tonight and Ive got to make more saves," he said afterward. "Five goals, its not a good night, but at the same time we got a point and weve got to move on." Shining in his first go-around as an NHL no. 1, the stretch drive will prove an interesting testing ground for Bernier. He has not played this many games in a season since 2009-10 when he was still in the American League with Manchester. 4. No Olympic Letdown? Back in 2010 and then the bench boss in Anaheim, Carlyle had a slew of players return from the Olympics in Vancouver emotionally spent and missing the gas required to carry the Ducks as per usual. But on Thursday morning, Carlyle raised the belief that Sochi Olympians Phil Kessel, James van Riemsdyk and Nik Kulemin could actually have a leg up on their teammates having played the past few weeks. And he turned out to be fairly prescient, at least for a game. van Riemsdyk had a hand in three of the four Toronto goals, matching a career-high with three assists, while Kessel chipped in with his 32nd goal of the year, also adding a helper to what has been a scorching 2014. The 26-year-old is now tied for second in league scoring with 67 points, 30 of which have come in the New Year. "Its not too hard to get back into it," van Riemsdyk said prior to the game. "Obviously we know whats at stake. All my attention is here on the Maple Leafs. The Olympics is done and over with. Its all about the rest of the season here and what we have to accomplish here." 5. Olympic Experience An Olympian with the American squad for the first time, the 24-year-old van Riemsdyk said the experience was memorable despite a disappointing finish which saw the U.S. bounced by Canada in the semifinals and then trounced in the bronze medal game by Finland. "Obviously the ending wasnt necessarily how we wanted it go which is unfortunate, but in a tournament like that where its single elimination thats how it goes sometimes unfortunately. As far as the whole Olympic experience I thought it was pretty cool. It almost reminded me of being back in college again as far as just even the dorms and being at the cafeteria with all the other athletes."
